Although the beaches of the Costa Brava take all the limelight, the truth is that the rest of the Catalan coastline also has beaches that are well worth a visit. For example, the Costa Dorada, which is the tourist name given to the coastline of the province of Tarragona, is home to such interesting spots as Tamarit beach.
Located in the municipality of Tarragona, it is characterised by its peaceful atmosphere. Would you like to discover more details? Well, now you know what you have to do! Don’t miss anything we’ll tell you below!
An old village
Today we move on to the old coastal village of Tamarit, which stands on a rocky promontory. Of the old town, only the walled enclosure and some remains of the castle, which dates back to the 11th century, remain. Although these archaeological remains are worth a visit, what interests us today is the beach, which is made up of boulders and calm waters.
An almost untouched natural environment
More than 1,000 metres long, the beach is surrounded by a practically virgin natural environment where you can disconnect and enjoy nature. Of course, it is also an ideal beach for the little ones in the family. Although it is not built up, it does have some essential services, such as toilets and showers. But don’t expect to find restaurants or beach bars.
Views of the castle
As you can see for yourself in the photographs, the views of the castle from the beach are outstanding. Finally, we would like to point out that although there is a car park near the beach, there is also a bus that stops at the beginning of the path to the castle. We leave you with our gallery below, where you can discover more images of this beach in Tarragona. Don’t miss it!
