On this website we are the first to tell you about the wonderful beaches that are scattered all over the world, but the truth is that we don’t give the Spanish coasts all the prominence they deserve. Yesterday we wanted to make amends by introducing you to the wonderful Playa del Silencio beach in Asturias and today we are going to continue in the north, specifically in the Costa da Morte, which is truly amazing.
The beautiful and wild Praia do Rostro, in Fisterra, Galicia, will amaze you with its virginity, surrounded by excellent views and incredible landscapes. Here you will find a series of long, soft dunes and, inland, you will see abundant vegetation made up of thistles, reeds and bulrushes. There is also a beautiful legend associated with this beach, would you like to know about it?
It is claimed that beneath the sands of Praia do Rostro lies the mythical city of Dugium, founded by an ancient civilisation that succumbed to a huge wave in an apocalyptic storm. The truth is that it seems to be more than just a legend, as geologists have shown that under the sand changes happened too quickly and several archaeological remains have been found.
Praia do Rostro remains the same as it was hundreds of years ago. Although it is ideal for those who want to sunbathe without discomfort, you have to be quite careful when bathing, as it is open sea and the sea and currents are very strong. However, it is perfect for surf lovers.
In short, the wildness of the sea, the broken views of the coast, its fine white sand and its dunes make this beach a true paradise. Are you up for a visit this summer? We can assure you that northern Spain has a lot to offer.
