Although Spain has a fantastic coastline, we always think of beautiful beaches in faraway places. Perhaps it is because we always wish for what we don’t have, that we would love to be in the Caribbean Sea or in the Pacific, enjoying exotic and paradisiacal islands. However, the coasts of our geography have little to envy to those remote places. In Spain we can find places of great natural beauty where you can enjoy a magnificent holiday surrounded by sun, sand and sea – everything you need for a perfect summer!
One of these places is L’Ametlla de Mar, in Tarragona, which has a large number of beaches and coves spread along its 14 km of coastline and distributed in three areas: the northern area, the village area and the southern area.
In L’Ametlla de Mar you will find small coves of great beauty, five of which have Blue Flags: l’Alguer, Pixavaques, Sant Jordi, Cala Forn and CalafatĂł. In addition, the beach of Santes Creus and the beach of Torrent del Pi have been awarded the Virgin Beaches distinction.
In the north are the fine sand beaches: Sant Jordi, Cala Forn and CalafatĂł, which also have all kinds of services, including a parking area. The first of these is undoubtedly one of the great attractions of L’Ametlla de Mar, thanks, above all, to the castle known as “Castell de Sant Jordi”, which has recently been restored.
The beaches and coves to the north are also very beautiful, such as Cala Llobeta, Cala “lo Ribellet”, Cala Vidre, Cala Mosques, Xelin and Cala de l’Estany Tort, all surrounded by fantastic scenery. Nor should we forget to mention the coarse sandy beaches in the south. These beaches are ideal for diving enthusiasts. The most important beaches in this area are Pepo cove, Bon CapĂł cove, Bon Caponet cove, l’Estany beach, Port Olivet nudist beach, Santes Creus cove, Llenya cove and l’Estany Podrit cove.
