From the most active and lively beaches to the quietest secluded coves where you can enjoy a perfect day of relaxation… The Girona town of Platja d’Aro is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful destinations on the Costa Brava, as it not only offers nature of spectacular Mediterranean beauty but also provides you with all kinds of services so that you can enjoy your stay to the full.
The main beach is undoubtedly the Platja Gran (Big Beach), an extensive stretch of sand of almost 2.5 kilometres of golden sand and crystal clear waters in which bathing is always a pleasure, despite the freshness of the water.Bordering the beach is the city’s always busy and bustling Paseo MarĂtimo, a place where the choice of hotels, bars and restaurants seems endless despite being only a small part of the immense variety of establishments that the coastal city has to offer.
Although the tendency is probably to go to the most crowded beach, the truth is that there are some other beaches and coves that are really worth visiting.
Cala Rovira, for example, is the small beach adjoining Platja Gran, so it offers the same natural conditions and proximity to almost all the services of the city, but in a quieter and more peaceful atmosphere than the previous one.
Sa Conca is practically the same size as the previous one (about 400 metres). It offers excellent natural conditions and cleanliness, as well as a good range of facilities on the beach, such as kiosks, showers, litter bins, telephones, toilets and parking.
Cala del Pi and Sa Cova are two tiny coves of 65 and 45 metres respectively. If it were not for the fact that we already know where we are, the soft golden sand and turquoise waters could be taken from the most beautiful coves of the Balearic Islands.
And if you get tired of spending boring days stretched out on the sand, you can also take the Platja d’Aro-Sant Antoni de Calonge route, a walk along the coastline between the two towns, enjoying the magnificent natural landscapes that stretch out all around you.
