If there is one reason why hundreds of people visit the small Balearic island of Formentera every summer, it is undoubtedly its incredible beaches.
It would be difficult to find a beach on the whole island that does not have a particular charm, always with such clean and transparent turquoise waters gently lapping the shore of fine white sand.
If you are one of those who have been seduced by the photographs of Formentera, wait until you visit it. Take note of some of the beaches, and make your own tour of the island!
1. Ses Illetes: This is by far the most popular beach on the whole island, not only thanks to its magnificent natural environment but also to the pleasant and lively atmosphere that surrounds it.
2. Playa Llevant: This is a long stretch of fine white sand where you can relax and get away from the crowds of Ses Illetes. Lying on its sand you will be able to see the island of Ibiza.
3. Cala Saona: This is a small cove in the shape of a crescent you will enjoy without having to lift a finger, either by taking a dip in its crystal clear waters or by lying on the soft, comfortable white sand.
4. La Savina beach: Magnificent beach surrounded by the most Mediterranean natural environment of green pine trees and scrubland. Like the Llevant beach, you can see Ibiza from the coast.
5. Es Pujols: Located in the most touristic town of the island, this beach is perfect for those looking for a continuous atmosphere, with restaurants, bars, shops and many sport and leisure activities to do.
6. Migjorn: This is the longest cove on Formentera, perfect for enjoying a quiet day on the beach lying on the sand or exploring the sea like a real diver.
7. Els Arenals (or S’Arenal): Magnificent beach surrounded by pine trees and green vegetation. Despite its proximity to the busy Ses Illetes and La Savina, the beach is quite quiet even in the most touristy summer months.
Other smaller and lesser known beaches that are also well worth a visit are El TiburĂłn, Tramuntana, Tanga beach and Sa Roqueta.
