We are lucky to live in a country with tremendously beautiful natural spots, although, without a doubt, one of Spain’s main attractions is its coastline, where you can find beaches to suit all tastes: small, large, urban, virgin, with golden sand, with black sand, lively, quiet, with a great wealth of marine life, ideal for surfing…
If there is one place where there is an abundance of beautiful beaches, it is undoubtedly the Canary Islands, and in particular La Gomera, which is where we are going to go today. Specifically, today we are in AlajerĂł, a municipality in the south of La Gomera. If you would like to discover the beautiful Playa Santiago beach, then pay close attention to what we are going to tell you next!
A bay open to the sea
Playa de Santiago is actually a small fishing village in the south of the island. As you can imagine, what stands out most about this place is its beach, a bay open to the sea with a southerly swell. Here you can also find a cosy harbour, ideal for small or medium-sized boats.
A very lively beach
The beach of this small fishing village is the largest on the island. In fact, it is almost half a kilometre long and 30 metres wide, depending on the state of the tide. On the other hand, it is important to bear in mind that in this area you will find a lot of restaurants and shops, so we are talking about a very lively beach.
An ideal beach for snorkelling
If you like diving or snorkelling, this beach is ideal for you, as here you can find plenty of caves and a variety of marine fauna. We leave you with our gallery below, where you will find more images of this popular beach in La Gomera, so don’t miss it!
