Punta paloma beach in cadiz

Although when the easterly wind blows it is perfect only for windsurfers and kitesurfers, Valdevaqueros Beach, in Tarifa, is a must for nature lovers. In fact, it is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain due to its kilometres of fine, white sand.

With a length of more than 4 kilometres, this is an almost virgin beach far from urban centres. It has a large golden sand dune and the views of the coast of Africa are excellent. Find out more details about this incredible beach in Cadiz below!

Location of Valdevaqueros

Valdevaqueros beach is located in the municipality of Tarifa, in the region of Campo de Gibraltar. With a length of 4,050 metres between the point of Valdevaqueros and the point of La Peña and an average width of 120 metres, it is not very urbanised and very far from large population centres. In the western part of the beach is the mouth of the river del Valle, which forms a wide estuary that runs along the beach just a few metres from the sea until it flows out several hundred metres to the east.

The dune

The westernmost part of the beach is occupied by an extensive dune formed during the 1940s by the military authorities stationed nearby. Attempts to prevent the movement of sand that threatened to bury the military installations led to the formation of a large dune that would later be fixed by the replanting of pine trees.

Views of Africa

Most days you can see Africa, which is less than 15km away, and on clearer days you can even see details of the houses on the neighbouring continent.
