Locos suaces beach cantabriare a world class surfing beach

Considered by many to be one of the most dangerous beaches on our coasts, Playa de los Locos, in Suances, is also one of the most beautiful on the Cantabrian coast, as well as a world reference for surfers.

It is an isolated beach nestled at the foot of a cliff that measures 350 metres long and 10 metres wide. Its sand is wet due to the fact that the high tide reaches the rocks themselves. It is made up of sand and pebbles and has winds and strong waves, which can be extremely dangerous for the unsuspecting when it comes to bathing. On the other hand, its access is somewhat complicated: steep stairs give access to this fine sandy beach. Would you like to know more details?

A beach with all services

As we have already mentioned, Playa de los Locos is ideal for surfing, as it tends to have quite a lot of waves. But as well as being the ideal beach for surfers, it is also one of the best beaches for watching the sunset because the sun sets right in front of it. Moreover, it has all the services of a beach in an urban area: Red Cross first aid post, litter bins, telephones, showers, parking in the surrounding area, picnic area…

The fishing village of Suances

If you visit the sandy beaches, don’t miss the town of Suances, full of magical and charming spots. This town stands out for its beaches and cliffs, which can be enjoyed with privileged views from Punta del Dichoso, a peninsula with silks to walk along that offers one of the best panoramic views of the Cantabrian coast. From there you can see the distant Picos de Europa, the Suances lighthouse, the mouth of the San MartĂn estuary and the Isla de los Conejos.
