We have been showing you some of the best beaches in South America (Baia de Porcos, Punta de Sal, Playa de Pujaçara…), so today we return to Spain to show you one of the most beautiful spots in Asturias. It is located in the wonderful town of Llanes and is the beach of GuadamĂa or AguamĂa, the most westerly of the beaches in the municipality, at the mouth of the GuadamĂa River, which forms the border with the neighbouring council of Ribadesella. It is also very close to the bufones de PrĂa.
This natural beach of great scenic interest has a very attractive rural setting, with an irregular shape and a length of about 80 metres of fine white sand, with water that is ideal for bathing. GuadamĂa beach is a narrow, elongated channel between two cliffs. In fact, it is the beach that is most protected from the onslaught of the sea in the whole of eastern Asturias. Would you like to know a little more about this beautiful beach in Llanes?
A quiet beach with beautiful views
As you can guess from the pictures, it is a quiet beach, with fine sand and beautiful views. If the tide is low, it is possible to take a walk from the mouth of the river to the sea. The best thing is that GuadamĂa beach is close to the bufones de PrĂa. The bufones are pipes in the limestone cliffs with two entrances, a lower one in the sea and an upper one in the upper part of the cliff. When the sea is rough and the tide is high, the waves that hit the lower entrance with force go up the pipe projecting a jet of sprayed water in the upper part.
Access and services
To get to the beach you will have to go through the village of Llames de PrĂa, along an old road that is nowadays concreted. There is also a small car park nearby. However, apart from beach cleaning, danger signs and a small restaurant in the vicinity, this beach is not equipped with services.
