The Costa Brava is beautiful. Rugged and rocky like few others, it allows us to enjoy the most original Mediterranean flavour. We know this from its beaches, which are simply incredible. An example? Tamariu beach, which I have to admit is one of my favourites for several reasons.
I will now tell you about this sandy area located in the town of the same name. It is very close to Palafrugell and it is not the only beautiful beach in the area, as you can also enjoy Aiguablava and Platja Fonda, two natural treasures that you should visit if you are passing through the Catalan coast.
More than just pine trees
Tamariu beach is not only surrounded by pine trees, which is the most common thing on the Costa Brava. There are also many tamarisks, which in Catalan are called tamarius. This is why the beach and the municipality are called what they are called.
Although the beach is far from being unspoilt, the buildings that are just a few metres from the shore do not alter the landscape too much, as they are the typical white houses that we have seen in so many charming fishing villages. They have been there for many years and the truth is that they don’t spoil the appearance of Playa de Tamariu at all.
Well deserved Blue Flag
As it could not be otherwise considering the cleanliness of its waters and the facilities offered to bathers, we are talking about one of the 590 Spanish beaches that in 2018 have received the Blue Flag.
How to get there?
You can get there easily from the town centre and you won’t find it difficult to park, although you will have to park in a pay car park or in a blue zone parking space. On the other hand, you won’t have any difficulty finding restaurants and hotels where you can enjoy the typical food of the area and stay, so we could say that it is a very tourist-friendly place.
