Everyone who comes to Formentera does so with rather high expectations, expecting a small paradise in which to enjoy sun, beach and a relaxing atmosphere… And the truth is that any image we may have is far surpassed.
Despite being the smallest island of the Balearic Islands, not even one of the 20 kilometres of beach in Formentera could disappoint you. Among other paradisiacal beaches such as Ses Illetes, Cala Saona or Es CalĂł, S’Arenal (also known as Arenal beach or Els Arenals) is one of the most popular areas of the island.
And this is not surprising, given the panorama in the photograph. The beach of S’Arenal stretches for 3 kilometres and 60 metres wide to offer you an incredible natural environment of fine, soft white sand dotted with a few shells and rocks and bathed on its shore by crystal clear turquoise waters in which you will see the little fish passing between your legs?
S’Arenal has everything you need to complete the perfect day of your carefree and relaxing holiday: comfortable sand on which to lie down and enjoy the sun and the warm Mediterranean breeze, perfect waters for snorkelling or going out with friends on a boat or water skate, and some restaurants where you can satisfy your palate with the best gastronomy of the area, which of course includes the best seafood dishes.
However, if you decide to go, you should know that this beach has an average occupancy rate that could become high if you go during the most popular dates in summer and that the people who go there are usually nudists (although in this peaceful atmosphere nobody may say anything to you if you prefer to wear your swimming costume).
So, you have two options: to uninhibit yourself a little and be more tolerant of other people’s choices or to miss out on this magnificent beach.
