Santillana del Mar is not only one of the towns with the greatest historical and artistic value in the country, but also offers a magnificent coastline that invites you to fish and enjoy its marvellous beaches. Today we would like to tell you about Santa Justa beach, which is located near the town of Ubiarco.
Considered by many as one of the best beaches in Cantabria, it is especially surprising because of the old hermitage hidden in the cliffs. Would you like to discover more details about this wonderful sandy beach? Then don’t miss anything we’ll tell you below!
A very quiet beach
Santa Justa beach is a small open cove that is not usually visited by many people, so you can enjoy the place in peace and quiet. However, after the renovation works that were carried out a few years ago, the place has a large car park. In addition, the accesses have also been restored, so they are now very comfortable. What you won’t find are many services.
The hermitage of Santa Justa
As we were saying, the most surprising thing about this beach in Cantabria is the Santa Justa hermitage, which is located on the cliffs. To be more specific, the building is embedded in the rocks and is only visible when the sea is calm and the tide is low. In addition, until 2006 there was a primitive mill on the beach, but it was demolished to build the current viewpoints.
Wonderful views
Finally, we would like to mention that in the surroundings of the cove there are cliffs from which you can get wonderful views. Here we leave you with our gallery, where you will find more images of this beach located in Santillana del Mar. Don’t miss it!
