That Almeria is one of the best options for a sun and beach holiday is undeniable, and it is a place worth visiting, as many people have heard of this magnificent Andalusian coast.
However, if you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the most crowded areas, our advice is to move a little further away until you reach one of the most isolated beaches in the province: La playa dels Muertos (Beach of the Dead). Yes, because although with this name it doesn’t sound too good to say that it is possible to find a perfect environment of peace and tranquillity, this is 100% true thanks to its more than 1,100 metres of fine whitish sand, its clean turquoise waters and those abrupt rocks and cliffs that blend in with the sea?
With all of the above it would not be difficult to suspect that this beach is protected from human exploitation, and indeed it is: Belonging to the beautiful Cabo de Gata Natural Park (which provides us with so many spectacular beaches), Playa de los Muertos is located five kilometres from the centre of the town of Carboneras to offer you the best of a secluded environment without giving up the proximity to all kinds of services.
However, as we often say, ‘all that glitters is not gold’, and this beach is not all scenic beauty and relaxation: its difficult access on foot along the paths and the unguarded car parks are partly the reason why this beach is not too crowded.
I’m sure you’re already drooling over the photos… Why not take some of your own?
