If you live in Andalusia or are planning to spend your summer holidays in this Spanish autonomous region, then you’re in luck! In this part of Spain you can find sandy beaches as beautiful as Playa de las Salinas, which is in AlmerĂa, more specifically in the Cabo de Gata-NĂjar Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park.
This long beach (2,500 metres long x 95 metres wide) is surprising for its inhospitable landscape in which three constructions stand out: the San Miguel Tower, the lighthouse and the Church of Las Salinas. Would you like to discover more details about this surprising sandy area? Well, now you know what you have to do! Don’t miss anything we’ll tell you below!
A very special landscape
As we were saying, Playa de las Salinas is an extensive stretch of sand that stretches from the TorreĂłn de San Miguel to the lighthouse, two constructions that rise out of the sand, offering a very special landscape. Of course, it is also worth mentioning the Church of Las Salinas, an icon of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park that has lost some of its charm since it was restored in 2012. However, it is still a building worth seeing.
An improvised car park
The beach is made up of coarse white sand, but you can also find areas of pebbles and finer sand. Along the beach there is a road whose verges are used as a car park. The access to the beach is on the same road, where wooden walkways and stairs have been incorporated.
No services of any kind
As it is a large and fairly secluded beach, you won’t have any trouble finding a place to spread out your towel, even in high season. However, bear in mind that you won’t find any kind of service here. Here we leave you with our gallery, where you will find more images of this wonderful beach in AlmerĂa, don’t miss it!
