Leisure, culture, beautiful architecture, sun and beach… Barcelona has everything to become your next holiday destination, especially if you have already taken a look at our article about the many beaches you can find in the city.
Among the main coastal areas, the beach of La Barceloneta is undoubtedly the most popular and also the most visited in the city. Its excellent central location, its great atmosphere and the excellent range of services and leisure facilities in the area are out of this world.
In fact, you can easily distinguish La Barceloneta beach from the surrounding beaches thanks to the emblematic buildings that are already part of the intrinsic personality of the area: At one end of the beach, the imposing Mapfre Towers; at the other, the magnificent hotel ‘W Barcelona’, also known as ‘hotel Vela’ for its particular architecture facing the sea.
La Barceloneta is characterised by its soft and fine golden sand, fresh and clean waters (which is a merit considering its location) and also, we are not going to deceive you, by its excessive overcrowding from the first hot days of the year.
However, this should not be a reason to miss out on all it has to offer… On the beach you can relax, have a refreshing swim, play football, volleyball or with your rackets, as well as do water activities such as swimming or surfing.
The beach is separated from the pedestrian promenade by a couple of metres, which leaves enough space to offer you plenty of Mediterranean restaurants where you can try the delicious seafood and fresh fish dishes, as well as some cool bars and lounges where you can have a cocktail, a beer or a soft drink.
And if you like walking, from this beach you can reach the most emblematic areas of the city such as the Port of Barcelona, La Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya in a short time.
All in all, it may not be the relaxing beach of your dreams, but it is magnificent in many other ways!
