If this summer you want to escape mass tourism without giving up spectacular beaches, a good alternative is to travel to northern Spain, which has some of the most beautiful beaches in the country, although it is true that many people are still unaware of this. For example, in the Basque Country you can find such beautiful spots as the beach of Barrika, which is in the municipality of the same name, some 25 kilometres from Bilbao, in the province of Vizcaya.
As you can see for yourself below, it is a wild beach surrounded by impressive cliffs. Would you like to find out more about it? Then don’t miss out on what we’ll tell you next!
Great cliffs
As we were saying, today we are moving to the Basque Country to discover the beach of Barrika, which is hidden at the foot of some 100-metre-high cliffs. In fact, to reach the beach you have to go down some stone stairs with more than 302 steps. There are two other beaches in the municipality, one in the open sea and the third located in the bay of Gorliz.
Immense beauty
This beach is open to the sea and is made up of sand and pebbles. Without a doubt, the best thing about it is that it is a place of immense beauty. It does offer some services, such as showers, lifeguards and a bar. It is also possible to find tables, benches and litter bins nearby.
Frequented by surfers
Due to the characteristics of the beach, it is very popular with hikers and lovers of other sports, such as climbing. On the other hand, it is important to take into account that nudism is quite common. We leave you with our gallery below, where you will find more images of this beautiful beach in Vizcaya.
