What do you want most in the month of July? Indeed! Most of us would love to be enjoying a nice day at the beach. In fact, many of you will be doing just that, while others of us are not so lucky. Those of you who live in the north of Spain or are in that area on holiday will be lucky enough to be able to visit some of the most beautiful beaches in our geography. If, on the other hand, you have not yet started your holidays and are not sure where to go, keep this place in mind as a destination.
Today we want to talk about one of the most amazing beaches of the Cantabrian Sea. This is Barayo beach, in Asturias, a place where tranquillity reigns supreme. This beautiful beach is classified as a Partial Nature Reserve, and is endowed with an abundant assortment of dunes and marshes of great ecological and scenic value.
Barayo beach, 700 metres long, is split lengthwise into two sandy tongues by the river of the same name, in whose basin you can find communities of otters and oystercatchers.
It is one of the finest sandy beaches in Asturias and is particularly suitable for bathers, due to the flatness of its sandy bed, which makes underwater currents infrequent. Furthermore, from this magnificent beach you will be able to contemplate the characteristic rocky cliffs where quartzite predominates.
We must also tell you about Las SĂĄntinas, a series of caves with an attractive constitution. These appear at the level of the sand and go deep into the sea, constituting one of the most spectacular attractions of the Asturian coast.
