Playa Grande de Platja d’Aro is one of the best known, most popular and most visited beaches on the Costa Brava in Girona (Catalonia) thanks to its clean, crystal-clear waters, its long beach and its promenade, where you can enjoy Mediterranean gastronomy. This will be the starting point for a charming route along the best beaches in the area, many of which can only be reached on foot.
The route begins at Cavall Bernat, the popular monolith that has become a symbol of the town, and when the sand breaks through the rocky wall. Shady tunnels open under the rocks of the mountain, open only for the passage of people, will lead us to the most charming beaches and coves that border the coast to the neighbouring village of Sant Antoni de Calonge.
On this expedition we can enjoy the incomparable views of small and charming beaches such as Cala dels Canyers or Cala Rovira (the closest to the main beach, Playa Grande); lovers of photography and unspoilt nature will not forget the soft golden sand and crystal clear water of Cala del Pi and Cala dels Canyers, or the lovely mix of sea and mountain found on the coquettish beach of Sa Conca.
The magic of all of them lies, especially, in the fact that most of them have a capacity reserved for only a few, and that they are only accessible through this route.
So, if you’re going to spend a few days on the Costa Brava, don’t forget to take your backpack and follow this route, you won’t regret it!
