Although the eastern and southern coasts of Spain are the most visited in summer by both Spanish and foreign tourists, the truth is that the scenic beauty of the north is also incomparable… And although the temperatures and climate are not exactly what you would like, the contrasts between the sea and the mountains give you dreamlike views.
With 363 beaches, A Coruña is one of those destinations that you simply can’t miss. Take note, because we’ll show you some of the best beaches in the area!
1. A Frouxeira (Valdoviño): This municipality has no less than 25 kilometres of beaches, including A Frouxeira, 3,500 metres of golden sand bathed by beautiful crystal-clear waters in a setting of high cliffs that give it a wild and abrupt appearance. On the horizon, the island of Percebeira takes centre stage.
Barrañån (Arteixo): This is the first of a succession of beautiful beaches of white sand and very clean Cantabrian waters. We should also mention others such as Combouzas, Arenal de Area Grande or Valcobo, for example.
3. Baldaio (Carballo): It is located on the edge of the Costa da Morte and stretches for about six kilometres as a sand bar that has already been recognised as part of a protected national park. The beach is actually divided into two parts: Baldaio and Razo, both ideal for surfing (due to their contact with the Atlantic).
4. Esteiro (Malpica): It is also known by the name of Seiruga, one of the wildest beaches on the Costa da Morte but also one of the most beautiful. Although it remains almost untouched, near the beach you will find some good restaurants (in Puerto de Barizo).
5. Carnota (Carnota): This is the main beach of Carnota, which is why it bears the same name. With 8 kilometres long and one kilometre wide, this coast is the longest in Galicia and for some people the most beautiful: its beautiful white sand, its incredible waters and its beautiful horseshoe shape have placed it on more than one occasion as one of the best in the world.
Lago Louro (Muros), Area Longa (Porto do Son) or Corrubedo (Riveira) are some other coasts that are really worth visiting.
