The canos de meca in the coast of cadiz

The beaches of Cádiz have nothing to envy to those of the Caribbean, especially for lovers of Andalusia. Los Caños de Meca, a district of Barbate, is one of the most attractive spots on the coast of Cadiz.

Although in recent years it has become quite a touristy place, it will never lose its magic thanks to its unspoilt beaches, the climate and the special atmosphere.
The hippie movement that came to the town in the 70s is still alive today. You can see it in the countless street stalls where you can find all kinds of costume jewellery, accessories and anything leather you can imagine. It can also be seen in the number of nudist beaches you can find.

In addition, in Los Caños de Meca you can find very diverse landscapes, from open beaches, such as the Faro de Trafalgar, perfect for surfers, windsurfers and bodyboarders, to quieter beaches such as Marisucia, in the centre of the cape of Trafalgar.

One of the things you can do there is to take a mud bath, as water spouts emerge from the stone of the cliff due to the underground aquifers that exist.

Above all, you cannot miss the impressive sunset of Caños de Meca. One of the best places to watch it is Zahora beach, next to Cape Trafalgar. There you will find the Sajorami Beach resort on the Costa Azul, accessible to few due to its high occupancy and high cost. Even if we can’t afford accommodation, we can watch the sunset from its beach bar, while listening to live music and sipping mojitos.

If you want to be surrounded by magnificent beaches and experience a mixture of hippie atmosphere and Andalusian art, you have to visit Caños de Meca and you won’t regret it.
