The city of Barcelona can boast of having good beaches, as well as a long and lively promenade. The problem is that many of these beaches are saturated during the high season. As a result, many locals escape to nearby towns in both the BarcelonĂšs and Maresme regions.
In towns like Badalona or Montgat you can find beaches with medium and coarse-grained sand that have their own charm. What’s more, they are easily accessible thanks to the CercanĂas (local train). For those who don’t know it, Montgat is a town in the Maresme area with four beaches close to the RENFE train stations and the metropolitan bus. Today we are going to tell you about the sandy beaches of this town!
Moreres Beach
Platja de les Moreres is a cosy, family-friendly cove with a large parking area. During the summer you can eat and have a drink at Guingueta de la Paquita, where you can also rent sun loungers.
Beach of Cala Taps
In front of the Mallorquines neighbourhood is Platja de Cala Taps, also known as Cala Naiara. Its name comes from the caps of the bleach bottles that were found in the sea and in the sand, coming from a bleach factory that was located just in front of the beach. Here you can find a nudist area.
Sant Joan Beach
In front of the Sant Joan i Casc neighbourhood you’ll find the Platja de Sant Joan, a wide beach that houses the facilities of the Clum MarĂtim Montgat, beach volleyball courts and other types of services. You’ll also find the beach bar La Guingueta Mi Lola.
MonsolĂs Beach
Finally, we must mention Platja de MonsolĂs, the closest beach to Masnou. During the summer it is home to two beach bars: the Guingueta Mararia Beach Club and the Guingueta Wayra.
