The Catalan coast is one of the most beautiful to enjoy a few days of relaxation and activity in a 100% Mediterranean natural environment thanks to its golden sandy beaches and tall pine trees and, above all, crystal clear waters of excellent quality.
It is precisely here that you will find one of the great attractions of the area, and that is that many of its beaches have exceptional seabeds that are well worth exploring. To do so, there is nothing better than a good day’s diving or snorkelling on some of the best beaches:
1. Illes Medes, L’Estartit (Girona): With two main islands and some small islets, the Illes Medes are the best Catalan location to enjoy this sport thanks to their excellent conditions and their wonderful seabed (seaweed, posidonia meadows, corals, various fish, crabs, starfish, among many others). The natural protection of the archipelago allows for perfect snorkelling in almost any weather conditions.
2. Calonge (Girona): Its golden sandy beaches and its busy tourist atmosphere already make it well known to thousands of tourists. For lovers of scuba diving or snorkelling, there is nothing better than visiting areas such as Cap Roig or Cala dels Esculles.
3. Platja d’Aro (Girona): Very close to the previous ones, the beaches of this town have an incomparable beauty both on land and at sea, with a rich marine flora and fauna that is well worth discovering.
4. Cambrils (Tarragona): La Llosa beach (known for the Roman ruins found there) has calm crystalline waters and some islets that will allow you to enjoy one of your favourite summer sports.
5. Cadaqués (Girona): The characteristic rocky bottom of the waters of the village of Dalà makes it perfect for a very interesting dive.
Do you practise any of these sports regularly? If you know of any other quality beaches for diving or snorkelling, let us know, our readers will thank you!
