When we think of a sun and beach holiday in Spain, the name Ibiza usually springs to mind. Why? For many reasons, because it is an island where you can find what you are looking for, whatever it is; from absolute tranquillity with the family to the wildest parties with friends. All this without forgetting that its beaches are a natural treasure that captures you day after day.
Some time ago we published an article about the best beaches in the north of Ibiza, so today it’s time to focus on those in the south, which, as you can see below, are even more beautiful if possible.
Es Cavallet beach
To talk about Es Cavallet is to talk about a very large beach where nudism is a common practice. It is in the Natural Park of Ses Salines and measures just over a kilometre in length and is full of fine, white sand. The main problem is the wind, which sometimes causes considerable waves. This is why it is not the most recommendable beach in the south of Ibiza to go with children.

D’en Bossa Beach
For many it is the most popular beach in Ibiza thanks to the two discotheques that are anchored there: UshuaĂŻa and HĂŻ Ibiza. It can also boast of being the longest on the whole island with its 2,700 metres in length, where you’ll have no trouble finding a beach bar where you can have a drink while listening to the best music of the moment. Fine sand and calm waters is what awaits you if you choose to spend a day at Playa d’En Bossa, where it is not unusual to come across celebrities sunbathing.
Es Codolar beach
It must be said that Es Codolar is not the typical beach you imagine when you visit Ibiza, as you won’t find fine, white sand on the shore, but rather rocks that make sunbathing a bad plan and make it necessary to take precautions when walking. It is also quite close to the airport, which means that the noise of the planes prevents you from enjoying a day of relaxation. The positive side? It’s quite lonely even in high season.
Jondal Cove
Cala Jondal is also in the south of Ibiza, specifically in a large bay that is also full of pebbles, as is the case with Es Codolar. Despite this, it is worth noting that its waters are as clean as can be and that there is a restaurant and a couple of beach clubs that are well worth a visit. The restaurant is called Es Savina and is perfect for fish and rice dishes at decent prices, while the beach clubs are the Tropicana (salsa music and capirinhas) and the Blue Marlin (frequented by celebrities as it is not particularly cheap).
Sa Caleta
Sa Caleta, also known as Cala Es Bol Nou, is a beach surrounded by cliffs that is surprising for the reddish colour of its sand and the turquoise colour of its waters. It is small and quiet, so it is difficult to lay your towel on it during the months of July and August. It is only 80 metres long and 10 metres wide, so I recommend getting up early to get a spot.
Cala d’Hort
This is the beach in the south of Ibiza that I like the most. Why? I don’t know, maybe it’s because of Es VedrĂ , an islet 385 metres high that you can contemplate in great detail while you swim in its waters. Cala d’Hort is about 150 metres long and 25 metres wide, so it is normal that on the busiest tourist days it is difficult to find a spot on the shore. It should be noted that not only can you have a good swim, but you can also try some of the typical dishes of the area in the restaurants located there.
Tarida Cove
Cala Tarida is a family beach like few others, as it is provided with all kinds of services. It is 300 metres long and 50 metres wide and boasts fine white sand that is very pleasant to the touch. Here you can practise water sports, buy souvenirs and fill your stomach in a good restaurant or beach bar.
Vadella Cove
Cala Vadella is a quiet beach that is fortunate enough to be very well sheltered by large rocks that prevent the wind from entering, so it is normal that its waters are not shaken by the waves that do appear in other parts of the island. It measures some 250 metres long by 50 metres wide and we could say that it is like a natural swimming pool in which you will want to swim.
