Those of us who live in Catalonia do not know a better sun and beach destination than the Costa Brava, because this coast gives us beaches of excellent conditions at all levels: its beautiful natural Mediterranean environment gives it an unparalleled beauty, while its wide and varied tourist offer makes it one of the best places for leisure, fun and relaxation.
Here are some of the best beach destinations in Gerona, don’t miss them!
1. Platja d’Aro: This beautiful tourist town has one of the best leisure offers in the whole province, with a huge number of hotels, restaurants, discotheques, bars and shops to choose from. Its coastline is simply the prototypical Mediterranean coastline of large beaches or small coves with crystal clear waters and golden sand, all surrounded by pine trees and green vegetation.
2. CadaquĂ©s: This is one of the most emblematic places along the coast, although it is true that its popularity is not so much due to its beaches as to the small fishing village of small white buildings on the beach. The area doesn’t have too many hotels or hostels for accommodation, so you’d better book early or stay in the nearby town of Roses.
3. Roses: It has an extensive beach of golden sand bathed by a long shore where it will take you several kilometres to get the water above your knees. The beach is surrounded by an atmospheric promenade with plenty of terraces, bars and restaurants.
4. Pals: A place where you can enjoy the best beaches and also culture, as it is an old fortified medieval village.
5. Palafrugell: This municipality has beautiful beaches with well-known names such as Tamariu, Vila-Seca or Calella de Palafrugell, among others.
6. Llançà : It offers beautiful Mediterranean beaches of golden sand dotted with rocks that flirt with the land and the sea at the same time. Like some of the previous ones, it has a historical past that is also interesting to know if you visit the area.
7. Illes Medes: They are a perfect place to practice scuba diving and snorkelling to get to know in depth the beautiful marine flora and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea. It is located in the coastal municipality of l’Estartit.
8. L’Escala: This beautiful fishing village in a Mediterranean environment is known both for its beaches and for being the site of the ruins of the Greek-Roman city of Ampurias. Its anchovies are also famous in Spain and all over the world.
