If you have arrived in Barcelona and have already visited the most representative monuments such as the Sagrada Familia, been to Park GĂŒell and enjoyed its colourful staircases and sculptures or visited the countless museums that this city houses, it is time to escape and do something fun, exciting and pleasurable: take a road trip to the beaches of Barcelona and the Costa Brava!
To make it easy for you I show you 5 beaches that you can visit on a route, which is preferable to do in a rented car so that you can travel at your own pace, stop to photograph what you want and, obviously, travel comfortably while saving money.
1. Sant SebastiĂ beach in Barcelona
Located in the district of Ciutat Vella, in Barcelona, this beach is famous for its sports clubs, where it is possible to do different sea-related activities such as paddle surfing, catamaran rides, parasailing or flyboarding. It doesn’t mean that outside the sports clubs you can’t do these activities, it’s just that it’s a bit more reserved there.
If you are looking for something with less adrenaline you can rent a bicycle, a skateboard or a Segway and take a ride along the beach on wheels. And it is also ideal for travelling with children, as there is a children’s play area, restaurants and kiosks or parasols for hire so you can enjoy a drink while you look out over the immensity of the sea.
2. Llevant Beach in Barcelona
This beach, which is relatively new, being away from the city centre (11 minutes by car from Sant SebastiĂ beach), is ideal for rest and relaxation, as there are no crowds like the others. It offers a beach umbrella rental service, drinks and food for sale and also has activities designed for the youngest members of the family, although to a lesser extent than San SebastiĂ . In addition, if you travel with your canine friend, you can take him to enjoy a space suitable only for pets, for which you just have to take into account some rules that are not difficult to comply with, so go ahead and take your dog to enjoy sunbathing too.
3. Blanes Beach
If you started your trip from Barcelona, this beach is less than an hour’s drive away and get ready because its golden sand is waiting to give you an unforgettable experience. There are sun loungers for rent, as well as chairs and parasols. Besides, it is ideal to get close to the gastronomic variety and enjoy it in front of the sea. Depending on the season in which you visit it, you will find different activities to do. On the other hand, it is highly recommended to walk around it and watch the sunset.
4. Mar Menuda Beach
With a blue flag, this beach is ideal to travel with the family and enjoy the warm climate it offers. It is also known for the many activities it offers, such as scuba diving, jet ski and kayak hire, among others. If you stay in Tossa de Mar you can enjoy spectacular sunrises, as the view is paradisiacal.
5. Aro Beach
Just 36 minutes away from Playa de Mar Menuda is this wonderful destination. It is a very complete beach that you can visit at any time of the year, as there are activities for all ages, water games, slides, hidden coves, aerial adventure parks, museums, golf schools, bars and restaurants. It is ideal for relaxing on a towel lulled by the sound of the sea waves.
Bear in mind that there are many more beaches on the Costa Brava if you continue along the Mediterranean coast, but the ones I have named are the ones I recommend because they are closer to Barcelona and are suitable for visiting by car. If you find this information useful, share it, and if you have other beaches to recommend, leave your tips in the comments section.
