When we think of the Catalan coast we always think of the beaches of the Costa Brava, one of the most magical corners of the Mediterranean. However, it is important to bear in mind that in the province of Tarragona it is also possible to find sandy beaches that are well worth a visit.
We are referring to the Costa Dorada, which offers everything from large sandy beaches to secret, hidden coves. Today we’ll tell you about one of the best beaches on this coastline. We are talking about Santes Creus, located in La Atmetlla de Mar. Would you like to discover it? Then come with us!
Remains in its wild state
To the south of Cap de Santes Creus is the beach of the same name. It is a rocky and pebbly cove surrounded by pine trees. Undoubtedly, the best thing about this place is that it remains in its wild state, so do not expect to find services. We would also like to highlight the views from the cliffs that surround it.
Of great ecological interest
The area around the beach, which is included in the Pla d’Espais d’InterĂ©s Natural (Plan of Areas of Natural Interest), is of great ecological interest, both for the lagoon landscape and for the presence of endemic fauna (especially snails and crustaceans) and typical Mediterranean flora.
Easily accessible beach
Although it is quite isolated from the town centre, the beach is easily accessible. In fact, you can get there on foot or by car. You should also know that very close by is Cala Llenya, a beautiful cove nestled between cliffs. Below we leave you with our gallery, where you will find more images of this beach located on the Costa Dorada. Don’t miss it!
