The quietest beach in formentera

When you travel with your family, you tend to look for places where you can enjoy the peace and quiet that is not usually found in the big city. That is why it is normal that when booking a flat we take into consideration the atmosphere of the area.

Formentera is a very small island and it is difficult to get rid of our dear friends the Italians, who are a bit more troublemakers than us when they want to be. However, there are still areas where it is possible to enjoy the island away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists who come here looking for something else.

Es Migjorn, a large family beach

Es Migjorn is a large beach in inverted commas, because its 4.3 kilometres in length are not crazy when compared to other beaches in the Balearic Islands. However, it is the largest beach on Formentera, which also partly explains why it is the quietest, as it is difficult for it to become overcrowded considering that it is a sparsely populated island even in the summer months.

Although it is a highly recommended beach, it should be noted that it is not as spectacular as Ses Illetes, which, as you probably know, usually appears in the rankings of the best beaches in Spain and Europe.

The wind can be an inconvenience

Es Migjorn is a south-facing beach. Unlike north-facing beaches, it can be affected by the wind. This can be annoying when sunbathing, depending on the speed of the wind, and it is also noticeable when taking a dip, as waves form that can make it dangerous to get into the water. It is not the most common, but it happens several days during the summer.

On this beach there are services such as sun lounger hire and it is easy to find a beach bar or restaurant to recharge your batteries. As with all the beaches on the island, getting to Es Migjorn is easy if you can get there by car or motorbike. Everything is so close that you don’t need to plan your visit long in advance.
