Asturias is a region full of fantastic beaches. Mountain and sea, greenery and blue sea merge in its territory, which has become an object of desire for many lovers of the most special holidays. In addition to its excellent gastronomy, the beauty of its picturesque villages and its modern cities, as I mentioned (and as you know) the Asturian region has some of the most charming beaches you can find.
From the secret beauty of Niembro to the urban beaches of Gijón, or the fantastic coves of Llanes, the Asturian coast is dotted with beautiful jewels. Today we are going to talk about one that is a little more unknown but no less beautiful, as you can see in the photos.
From Quintueles and from Gijón
It is the beach of La Ñora, a sandy area located in two councils: Villaviciosa (parish of Quintueles) and Gijón. The beach can be reached from Quintueles, along a narrow, fairly steep road. From Gijón it is also possible to reach the beach, going down the path along the cliffs that descend to the far left. The walk is beautiful and highly recommended.
Pools, rocks and viewpoints
The beach is small and secluded, about two hundred and fifty metres long. When the tide goes out, many pools appear on the shore, perfect for swimming. These pools make Playa de la Ñora a very popular place for families with children. The beauty of the beach is accentuated by the rock that rises in its centre, the Peña el Romero, which is hidden by the sea when the tide comes in. It is precisely this rock that generates the pools I mentioned. The beach is also crossed by the Arroyo la Ñora, the natural border separating Villaviciosa from Gijón. At its western end there is also a path that leads to a viewpoint, from where you can enjoy breathtaking views.
