The beach of carnota in a coruna

If you want to visit the largest beach in Galicia, remember the name of Carnota, one of the most beautiful coasts in the country, located in the province of A Coruña.

It is an 8-kilometre-long coastline that combines the best of nature with a relatively close urban environment so that you can enjoy your well-deserved beach holiday in style without completely renouncing all your needs and your desire for leisure.

You will have to go a little further from the shore to find the village, as Carnota is a beach protected as a natural environment. On this extensive sandy beach in a rural setting you can lie down and enjoy the sea breeze in the sun, play sports such as volleyball or football, or play quietly with your children on the soft, clear, white sand.

As if this were not enough, the wind and waves that characterise this area of the Atlantic make it ideal for enjoying water sports such as windsurfing.

However, one of Carnota’s problems may be its accessibility, as it can only be reached on foot from about 800 metres from the beach. The main entrance is next to the church of Carnota, although it can also be accessed via Pedrafigueiro, O Viso (Boca do Río), Maceiras and Caldebarcos.

In addition, this, together with the length of the beach, means that in some stretches there may be a lack of services, equipment or safety.

The urban area is somewhat distant from the beach itself, so the area is simply a place to relax away from the crowds. However, you can stay quite close to Carnota beach and you will also find excellent bars, restaurants and local shops just a few minutes away.
