The beach of alcudia in mallorca

One of the best destinations for summer holidays in Spain is undoubtedly the Balearic Islands. While Menorca and Formentera are the most typical islands for relaxation and Ibiza is the Spanish party capital, Mallorca combines tranquillity and 24-hour atmosphere to become the ideal place for any type of tourism, be it family, partying or as a couple.

Some of the busiest beaches on this island are in Puerto de AlcĂșdia; here you will find all kinds of coasts (wide, narrow, long, crescent-shaped…) with a range of leisure activities that will rarely disappoint you.

A popular beach for obvious reasons

The largest beach in the area is the ‘Platja Gran’ (the Big Beach), which is just over 7 kilometres long, although it is very popular in the main summer months when thousands of tourists from all over the world come to the island.

The beach is surrounded by green Mediterranean vegetation and its fine, white sandy shore is agitated by beautiful turquoise waters.

playa-alcudiaIf you are not satisfied with just lying down to enjoy the placid sun and the warm breeze of the Mediterranean coast, in Platja Gran you will find a wide range of services, sports and leisure activities: you could have a perfect day starting with a morning of surfing, slides or sailing in the sea, getting your strength back with a good paella in the restaurants along the promenade and then enjoying a relaxing afternoon in the sun and a lively night in the beach bars in the area.

The beach is actually divided into two parts: one starts next to the marina and stretches for several kilometres along the promenade, while the other starts when it ends at the Ciudad Blanca and goes all the way to Playa de Muro, where you will find a more relaxing space that is less crowded with tourists.
