The idyllic cove of cala bona in tossa de mar

Today we would like to continue touring our coasts, would you like to? In Spain we are lucky enough to have some of the best beaches in the world, where you can enjoy the sun, sand and crystal-clear waters without having to travel thousands of kilometres.

One of the places where you will probably find some of the most beautiful beaches in the country is the Costa Brava, with such amazing towns as CadaquĂ©s, l’Estartit, Roses and Tossa de Mar. That is where we want to go today, specifically to Cala Bona, a small sandy beach located three kilometres north of the town. It is one of the few places where the trees and vegetation reach the seashore. Would you like to know a little more about this marvellous spot?
Cala Bona winds its way from the open sea for 75 kilometres until it ends in an idyllic landscape of rocks and pine forest that surrounds a very lively cove 20 metres long and 10 metres wide. This makes it an ideal cove for snorkelling. Although it is not a suitable place for sunbathing, as there is hardly any sand (it is made up of rocks and pebbles), it is well worth a visit.

The beach is surrounded by a pine forest that stretches all the way to the seafront. A small beach bar is open during the high season to make the summer more pleasant. Thanks to the fact that it does not receive many visitors, the environment is practically untouched. In fact, it is a beach with low occupancy in summer because the access is quite complicated and tiring: you have to walk along an unpaved and slippery path for about 5 minutes, with some very steep stretches. The most privileged will enter by boat, as anchoring is allowed.
