If you have walked along it and bathed in its waters, maybe you agree with this award. I’m convinced you will. San Sebastian’s La Concha beach has been recognised as the best beach in Europe in the Traveller’s Choice 2017 awards, which are given every year by the TripAdvisor website based on the opinions expressed by users.

It is a recognition that comes from the best possible judge: the people who have visited the place. This beach is also in sixth place in the world ranking and has climbed seven positions compared to last year’s edition.

Why is La Concha beach the best in Europe?

If we look at the evaluations made by those who have enjoyed this emblematic place in San Sebastian, we can see why it has been recognised as the best beach in Europe. They describe it as “magical” and say that “it has a special charm that makes you fall in love”. They highlight its location and its views.

Characteristics of this beach

La Concha is located to the west of the mouth of the Urumea river and is one and a half kilometres long. Since 2007 it has been one of the 12 Treasures of Spain and its railing and lampposts are world-famous. It is true that when the weather is good it is very busy, but you have to make the most of the sunny days in the Basque Country, and doing so in this setting is something special.
