Black sand, golden sand, arid, with vegetation… Lanzarote offers an enormous variety of beach landscapes that are very different from each other but each one of them has its own particular charm.
Papagayo beach, close to Playa Blanca, is one of those beaches that is worth visiting at least once in your life, characterised by the strong contrast of black rocks of volcanic origin bordering the beach, rising above a very clear golden sand burnt by the sun.
It is precisely these cliffs that create the pronounced horseshoe shape of the bay, which forms a kind of pool almost closed to the Atlantic Ocean, with beautiful turquoise waters obscured by the underwater rocks.
Not very reserved in terms of access, this quiet beach is a good place if you want to enjoy a lively holiday atmosphere without staying on the more typical and crowded beaches of the island.
From Papagayo you will be able to see Fuerteventura and the islet of Lobos, as well as contemplate one of the best sunsets you have ever seen in your life.
For all these reasons, the cove is undoubtedly the most beautiful and photogenic of all the beaches that make up the ‘Playas de Papagayo’; perhaps that is why it is the one that has the honour of bearing the main name. However, it is also worth visiting the rest of the beaches that stretch along the more than seven kilometres of this coast of Yaiza, which include, in addition to the aforementioned, Playa Mujeres, Playa del Pozo, Playa de La Cera, Puerto Muelas and Caleta del Congrio.
All of them share the beauty of the Papagayo beach, as well as the particularity of being a place where you can choose whether you want to practise nudism or sunbathe in your swimming costume, as above all the freedom of decision of each one is respected.
