The bay of los genoveses in almeria

Cabo de Gata is one of the most magical natural spots in the Mediterranean, with fabulous beaches with a quiet atmosphere and a beauty very different from what we generally consider an ‘ideal beach’.

This is BahĂa de los Genoveses, considered by many to be the best beach in the whole Natural Park. If you visit it, don’t forget to bring something to eat and drink, because you won’t find any beach bars, bars or any other catering service here; this beach is a place to enjoy the most natural surroundings without having to do anything else.

But don’t worry, because to make the most of this bay you have to do just that, disconnect from the rest of the world: lying on its golden sand, basking in the sun’s rays and letting yourself be caressed by the gentle Mediterranean breeze, you’ll let the hours pass by without even noticing.

As we said before, this beach is different from the others, and far from looking like a tropical paradise, it offers us a kilometre of rather arid vegetation that contrasts radically with the freshness and turquoise colour of the waters that reach its shore; however, in the surroundings you will find some eucalyptus trees under which you can lie down to take a nap and take shelter from the very high Andalusian temperatures, and in times of flowering also some poppies, immortelle or purple bells.

The shore is perfect for playing sports while you cool off (for a bit of fun with the racquets or a ball) or for playing quietly with the kids as the slope is not too steep and not too overgrown either.

You can reach Los Genoveses on foot from El Molino, where the dirt track starts, which leads by car to the volcanic pot that forms the valley of the bay. There is also a car park about 500 metres from the seashore.
