Just in front of the Medes Islands

At the mouth of the River Ter, in the village of Torroella, near L’Escala, we find one of the most unspoilt and solitary stretches of coastline in Catalonia. As we mentioned before, we are referring to the Gola del Ter, a wild beach just in front of the Medes Islands.

A beautiful and quiet spot

In addition to being one of the most beautiful spots on the Costa Brava, it is also one of the quietest. We are talking about a long beach of fine golden sand that is far from human constructions. In fact, you can only see a few farmhouses, some of which date back to the 19th century. It is also important to bear in mind that this is a place of great ecological interest. As we mentioned earlier, it is an area rich in dunes. Of course, you can also find reeds.

No visitor services

As this is an unspoilt beach, you will find practically no visitor services. In fact, even parking space is limited. So if you want to get a good spot, you’ll have to go early. Here is our gallery, where you will find more images of this spectacular spot on the Costa Brava. Don’t miss it!
