This is the first time we have talked about a beach of these characteristics, and as strange as it may seem, there are also some ‘inland’ beaches, that is to say, beaches that do not touch the coast.
Although at first glance not everyone could tell, Costa Dulce is not actually a beach but a huge marsh in Orellana la Vieja (Badajoz) that has ended up being considered as such (it goes without saying that there can be few beaches in Extremadura).
For being inland, this beach has very clean waters that are perfect for swimming and also for water sports such as sailing, canoeing or water skiing, for example.
Do you want to relax? Then spend the day on a sun lounger, with nothing to worry about but taking a dip, reading a book or having a refreshing drink to forget about the sweltering heat of the hottest summer months.
In total, a beach of about 700 metres of shore with magnificent conditions for bathing and leisure, with facilities such as a car park with 900 spaces, easy access for the disabled and a picnic area that can accommodate up to 400 people.
However, if there is one thing that makes this enormous reservoir special, it is its classification as the first inland ‘beach’ to be awarded the Blue Flag, the distinction that the European Union gives to beaches with the best bathing conditions, both for the cleanliness and quality of the water and for the good services.
If you want to change a bit your traditional seaside holiday, you can’t miss this magnificent rural beach, close to which you can find beautiful rural houses typical of the area in villages such as Casas de Don Pedro or Puebla de Alcocer.
