Have you ever had the chance to visit the Costa de la Luz? We are referring to the area of the Andalusian coastline that includes the provinces of Cadiz and Huelva, stretching from the mouth of the Guadiana River to Tarifa. It is one of the most highly rated coastal destinations in Spain, which is hardly surprising when you consider that it is home to some stunning beaches, some of which are unspoilt.

Today we move to the coast of Cadiz to discover Costa Ballena, a village located between Rota and Chipiona, which was conceived as a holiday resort. The beach belonging to the first municipality is one of the best on the Costa de la Luz. Would you like to discover it? Well, you just have to join us!

A wild looking beach

The beach of Costa Ballena measures some 4,500 metres and offers a wild aspect, fine golden sands and calm waters, ideal for bathing. Its name comes from a legend, which tells that a whale had been travelling around the world in search of the best place to land. It was in this place in Roca where it stayed.

A beach with numerous services

Although it does not have a promenade, there are numerous bars and restaurants along the coastline. In addition, this beach is not lacking in services such as showers, toilets, deckchair and boat hire, access for people with reduced mobility, rescue services… The urbanisation also has a golf course.

Ideal for off-season visits

This beach is ideal for spring, late summer and early autumn, as the occupation during these dates is very low. Here we leave you with our gallery, where you will find more images of this beach located in Rota. Don’t miss it!
