Cala xarraca a rocky beach in the north of ibiza

Cala Xarraca portada
In the north of Ibiza, 3 kilometres from Portinatx, Cala Xarraca is one of the most recommended beaches in the area, something we told you about a couple of weeks ago (see “The best beaches in the north of Ibiza”. It stands out for its crystal-clear waters and the rocks that surround it. What’s more, the colourful spectacle is guaranteed, so it’s a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the essence of a unique island in the world.

A beautiful spot that is gaining in popularity

It is not as big as BenirrĂ s nor as small as XuclĂ . It is approximately 90 metres long and 10 metres wide. Even in the summer months it is not usually full, as it is the fishermen who frequent it the most. In fact, it is not usually one of the beaches that appear on the lists of recommendations that you can read before setting foot on Ibiza, which considerably reduces the number of visitors, despite the fact that it is becoming increasingly popular.

We could say that Cala Xarraca is divided into two areas. On the one hand there is the access area, which incidentally houses a restaurant. The other area is more reserved and can be reached by a rather discreet path. It is the favourite place for those who take the opportunity to practise nudism.

It is no coincidence that it is a cove frequented by divers and snorkellers. You can feel the depth a few metres into the water and the beauty of the seabed invites you to submerge your head with your eyes wide open.

Cala XarracaTo the right of Cala Xarraca are the dry docks, where the fishermen set up their improvised beach bars to enjoy the good weather. And a little further to the side, without being anyone’s territory, a very curious point juts out into the waters, inviting the most daring, who do not hesitate to dive in, taking advantage of the five or six metres of height that can be found at certain points.

Exact location

To get there, take the road towards Portinatx and take the turn-off to Cala Xarraca, where it is not easy to park during the hottest months of the year. The fact that there is a restaurant there makes things more complicated than they used to be. You can also get there using a bus service that doesn’t run very often. It also drops you off on a hill and forces you to walk the whole way for a few minutes.
