If you are travelling to Minorca and you only have a few days available, you may be interested in visiting its best beaches, but if it is not the first time you go or you have plenty of days to enjoy the island, then it is best to get to know the less touristy beaches that do not usually appear in the travel portals.

One of these beaches is Cala Tirant, which is located in the Platges de Fornells residential area, in the municipality of Es Mercadal. Would you like to find out more about this place? Then you’d better not miss anything we’ll tell you below!

Divided into two beaches

Cala Tirant is divided into two bathing areas. In the smaller one, which is the easternmost, you will find a wooden staircase that serves to save the hill that separates it from the larger beach. In both cases they are rugged and easily accessible sandy beaches, unlike other northern beaches on the coast of Menorca.

A wetland at the back

It is important to note that at the back of the beach there is a wetland which is forbidden to pass through. However, there is a wooden platform that allows you to reach the western end, where there are some houses.

A meeting point for surfers

During the winter months, this beach of fine golden sand becomes a meeting point for numerous surfers, who take advantage of the Tramontana winds. On the other hand, during the summer it tends to be quite busy, which is not surprising if we take into account its easy access by car. We leave you with our gallery below, where you will find more images of this beach located in Menorca. Don’t miss it!
