Today we want to return to Spain to tell you about one of the best beaches in Spain. This is Cala Pregonda, one of Menorca’s most remote beaches. It is not very easy to get there. However, after a 30-minute walk you are rewarded with a reddish beach with a lunar-like appearance and water so clear that you will feel like you are in another world.
If you’d like to discover this beautiful beach in more depth, then don’t miss out on what we’ll tell you below, we assure you it’s well worth it!
A desolate spot
The best thing about this beach is that it is totally different from the rest, not only because of its reddish colour but also because of the special atmosphere that surrounds it. As we were saying, unlike the beaches in the south, the sand at Cala Pregonda is red and the surrounding landscape is quite desolate. In contrast, the water is completely crystal clear. In addition, its different islets stand out, which protect the beach from the waves.
The problems of Cala Pregonda
The main problem with this cove is how far it is from almost anywhere on the island, unless you are in Fornells or Mercadal. There is also the long distance to walk from the car park to the cove, as it takes about 30 minutes along a path where there is no shade whatsoever. There are paths that lead to the beach itself, but these are private paths that the owners do not allow you to use.
As a curiosity, we can say that Cala Pregonda has been the cover of two of Mike Oldfield’s albums. Find out why the musician chose this cove in the following photographs!
