The island of Menorca offers the best beaches in the whole country. Each of the beaches that you can visit, whether urban or not, will be a beautiful postcard scenery that will soon make you want to return to explore more beaches of the Balearic Islands, which have nothing to envy to the paradisiacal coasts of the Caribbean.
Cala Macarella is at the top of my personal list of places not to forget. Touching its warm, fine sand in summer will give you an incredible sensation, which is even better when you contemplate the landscape of crystal clear turquoise waters that open out into the infinity of the Mediterranean.
No matter how beautiful the beaches you have visited before, they will seem nothing compared to this one, because not only does it have an unusual beauty, but it also offers a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to have fun, to get on one of the little boats or to swim out to sea and discover the underwater treasures of the islands.
We could well define Macarella as an unspoilt beach, whose image is barely marred by a beach bar that you will be grateful to have nearby on hot summer days when you need a refreshing drink or a good paella sheltered from the powerful Balearic sun.
The beach is sheltered from land speculation and pollution from cars, as nothing but a green nature of cliffs, pine trees and bushes spreads around it. Only 5 minutes away you will find a paying car park, and approximately 15 minutes away there is a free car park.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to enjoy this beach for your own personal enjoyment. Like most of the island, this cove can get quite crowded during the summer season.
Although you will undoubtedly be seduced by Macarella, you should not miss the magnificent cove just a five-minute walk away, Macarelleta, a smaller and more intimate version of the cove that makes it even more special.
