If you are going to spend a few days in Cadaqués, the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, I recommend you visit Cala Jugadora. Especially if you are looking for extra peace and quiet and you love snorkelling, as it is an ideal spot for it.
Its waters are not particularly warm despite being bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, but in summer you always feel like taking a dip on the Costa Brava, even if it is in the northernmost area.
Features
It is 50 metres long, pebbly and safe from the strong winds that usually blow here. The water is completely clear, which is what makes it so good for snorkelling. In fact, even scuba divers come here to enjoy the colony of posidonias that grow in the form of a forest. You are guaranteed to see several species of fish.
Obviously, the fact that it is so far away from the city centre means that there are no services available. What’s more, it is usually so intimate that it is considered a perfect place to practice nudism.
How to get there
Getting to Cala Jugadora is very easy. Take the road from Cadaqués in the direction of the Cabo de Creus lighthouse. It is just before reaching the lighthouse and it is very easy to find parking. In fact, you can walk to the lighthouse, which, curiously enough, is the furthest east on the Iberian Peninsula.
