Catalonia is not an autonomous community that receives millions of tourists every year by chance. It has many charms, and among them are undoubtedly its beaches. Both the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada are capable of enchanting anyone, each one with its own characteristics, as the coast of Girona is rather rocky and that of Tarragona is quite the opposite.
Here are five beaches that I consider to be unique. They are worth a visit for their beauty and the cleanliness of their waters.
Castell beach (PalamĂłs)
It is located in an unspoilt area thanks to the struggle of the locals, who do not want it to become an overcrowded beach. It is crescent-shaped and 300 metres long, surrounded by pine trees and fields. In addition, it is good to know that very close by there are archaeological remains belonging to the Iberian settlement, so it is also a place with a lot of history.
Aiguablava cove (Begur)
Near PalamĂłs, in the pretty town of Begur, you can take a dip in the irresistible waters of Aiguablava. It is a small and beautiful cove, with a landscape typical of the Costa Brava. We are talking about 100 metres long where you can lay your towel on the fine golden sand. No wonder it is one of the most popular in Catalonia.

Penya Tallada cove (Salou)
We go to the Costa Dorada to talk about this beautiful cove. It is in an incredible spot, set in a rocky formation that allows you to place some towels on the sand. Although there are no services, we are grateful for the fact that it is a wild beach that can be accessed through a staircase.

Fonda cove (Tarragona)
It is known as the Waikiki of Catalonia and is just a few kilometres from Tarragona, between two cliffs. It is a must-see because it is surrounded by greenery (in the middle of the forest of La Marquesa), so you have the feeling of being far away from the big city. Don’t be surprised that some people dare to pose as their mothers brought them into the world because it’s quite common.

Pola cove (Tossa de Mar)
Tossa de Mar, a town in the province of Girona that I recommend to everyone, is just 4 kilometres from this spectacular cove, whose sand is coarse and golden. It is surrounded by pine trees and is perfect to go with children, as the waters are usually calm and calm.
