Who doesn’t love a sunset? They are all beautiful in themselves, although it is true that the place from which they are viewed can multiply their beauty exponentially.
Witnessing sunsets on beaches is something that has become a classic, so it is not surprising that many travellers look for information on where to see incredible sunsets. In this article I have selected 10 that are worth memorising, so pay attention and do your best to experience one of them in person – you won’t regret it!
Shi Shi Beach (Washington, United States)
Shi Shi Beach is not in Washington DC. It is in Washington State, on the border between the United States and Canada. There, on a beach where it’s too cold to swim, you can at least enjoy a magical sunset.
Hapuna Beach (Hawaii, United States)
I could choose several beaches in Hawaii to watch the sunset, but I have decided to choose Hapuna Beach. It’s on Big Island, which is the largest island in Hawaii, and has everything to make you think it was worth a few hours of your life to watch the sun go to sleep. And unlike some of Hawaii’s other beaches, it’s white sand.
Motu Tevairoa (Bora Bora, French Polynesia)
This is the best beach in Bora Bora for several reasons. One of them has to do with the sunsets that can be seen, which is why it is not surprising that it is one of the places that many couples who are celebrating their honeymoon want to go to.
Papagayo Beach (Lanzarote, Spain)
In Spain there are also beaches where you can enjoy the sunset. One of them is Playa de Papagayo, in Lanzarote. It is a small paradise of golden sand set between cliffs that offers spectacular views, especially when the sun goes down.
Playa del Rey (California, United States)
We return to the United States, but this time to talk about a place as beachy as California. There they are delighted with Playa del Rey, which is not only a huge beach with fine sand where you can spend a great day, but you can also give your eyes a treat if you stay until the last minute.
Santa Teresa de Gallura (Sardinia, Italy)
In Sardinia, one of my favourite islands, they also know what a great sunset is. They can be found at various points in its geography, but I’ve gone to the north to choose the one you can see on the main beach of Santa Teresa de Gallura, a town I recommend you visit if you’re in those latitudes.
Ipanema Beach (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
You won’t have much trouble finding pictures of sunsets in Rio de Janeiro’s Ipanema neighbourhood, where there is a very famous beach that anyone would love to go to. My recommendation? Sit on the sand and wait for the sun to set while listening to “Girl from Ipanema”. You will relax and take away unforgettable memories, especially if you witness the sunset with a loved one.
Seven Miles Beach (Grand Cayman)
The last three beaches in this article are located in the Caribbean, a place where you can also see unique sunsets. Siete Millas beach not only stands out for the cleanliness of its waters or the length of its shore, but it is also known for the spectacle that can be seen every day before sunset.
Turner Beach (Antigua and Barbuda)
You can’t go to Turner Beach and leave your camera at the hotel. Its beauty will make you photograph it from every angle, and when the sun starts to set you’ll pick up your camera again to complete a photographic work that you’ll be eager to see how it turned out.
Reduit Beach (Santa LucĂa)
It’s no wonder some people say it’s their favourite beach in the Caribbean. It’s in St Lucia and there’s something about it that makes you leave with a good taste in your mouth, especially if you can last all afternoon and say goodbye with a sunset view from the beach bar.
